Justin Fields, Amirite?

By Sam Reeves

A good amount of people watched Sunday’s Bears game vs. the Miami Dolphins, or at least are aware that Justin Fields set a record for most rushing yards by a QB in a regular season game with 178 yards. That’s pretty neat to have a QB who can do that. Especially with an offensive line that is going through the motions, and wide receivers who cannot get open.

Other quarterbacks in the NFL can take off and run, but none are built like Justin Fields. Fields does have the dynamic speed and elusiveness that other quarterbacks have. But Fields can also take the contact and gain yards through it.

The constant fear with running quarterbacks is the risk of injury. Whether it’s a leg injury during a juke or taking a hard hit that can lead to concussions, the league’s coaches want their quarterbacks to be careful. Fields manages that with a fair share of sliding and getting out of bounds before he takes a hit.

The Bears’ offense is now catering to the strengths of Fields’ game. Run pass options are now very heavy, as well as designed quarterback runs. I think I can speak for a lot of people in saying: when Fields takes off and runs, my nether regions get tingly. Then I am in fear that he might die from taking a scary hit. I end up having the dreaded Fear Boner.

Fear Boner as described on The League

Don’t lie to yourself-I had you in the first half of this article. You thought it was going to have stats and insights? SIKE!

It is nice that Justin Fields doesn’t run like a baby deer when making these cool plays. He has his eyes down the field while also being aware of where he is on the field, unlike a former Bears quarterback who ran like a nervous kid trying to hide from his parents.

Baby Deer

Justin Fields is like the guy in a romantic comedy that the vindictive ex-girlfriend dates to show her wimpy ex-boyfriend she’s leveled up. Except it pays off for Bears fans, so I guess we are the ex-girlfriend in this scenario.

I am looking forward to Justin Fields being able to use his legs to open the passing game more. On top of being a great running quarterback, he has a rocket arm. If this allows receivers to get downfield (well, when they get receivers who can get downfield) it could be an unstoppable offense.

Beefcake

In conclusion, we get fear boners when Justin Fields runs the ball. Fields’ running is going to open up the passing game. The coolest thing about getting to root for Justin Fields is that he plays quarterback for my favorite football team. I mean, I would totally root against him if he wasn’t on my favorite football team because I am a loyal fan. Unlike you fake losers! Just kidding, you’re not fake.

Uh for football I think
