Not long ago I was watching a TV in the background at a restaurant I was at, when I looked up, I was mesmerized by the event that was on the screen. It was volleyball, but none of the players were using their hands to hit the ball. I thought to myself ‘what is this sorcery?’ It was a sport I found out later to be called Footvolley.

Footvolley is not only perfectly named, but it is also very entertaining. These players have ridiculously athletic builds to go with cat-like reflexes. The men and women who play this sport are the most gifted athletes I have ever seen. Not only are they doing these jump kicks and headers, but they’re also doing it in SAND PITS. I can’t even walk on the beach without pulling a muscle and these people are jumping several feet in the air. I just want to know how they train for this. Is it similar to SEAL training? I’m not even sure Navy SEALs could do this.

The movement and communication used in this game are top-notch. I think some other sports should take notice for their own benefit. Granted I couldn’t hear the television at the time, but you can definitely tell they were yelling to one another where to move. They are heading the ball, using their chest, and kicking it in the air; all while being accurate about where they are putting the ball. NBA and NFL players should learn these tactics and they could become unstoppable.

Let today be the day that the Footvolley movement begins. I have to believe this is mostly played in warm climates because it is played on a beach. I want there to be Footvolley hooligans like there is for soccer. Could you imagine how insane that would be? This is an international sport that I never knew anything about. If it weren’t for this accidental viewing, I would have had no idea it existed. It definitely would’ve been in my mind as a hobby that hippies came up with. I truly believe we can get the word out and make this a World Cup type of sport.
