Our new series! We’re highlighting Sox fans who live all over the country and asking them how they found their roots in White Sox Fandom. First up-Sean aka @sean_janko

1. Where were you born/when did you move out of Chicago (if born here)?
- I was born and raised in Clinton, IA.
2. When did you become a White Sox fan and who can you credit for this?
- I was born a Sox fan and I credit my dad with my Sox fandom, he was born and raised in Ottawa, IL.
3. What is your favorite Sox game you’ve attended in your “home” park or region?
- Living in Iowa we don’t have a home MLB team so I will say 2022 when my wife and I went to two Sox games at Comiskey Park.
4. Have you been to Sox Park? If so, what were your honest feelings about it?
- Yes I have 6 times, I always feel like it is magical going to the ballpark and it’s a special place.
5. What do you think about gatekeeping baseball fandom based on location?
- It’s stupid, baseball isn’t going to grow if people are gatekeeping, let’s make baseball acceptable to all.

6. Does WST help you feel more connected to the fanbase?
- Oh absolutely it does, I consider those people my friends even if I haven’t met them in real life.
7. Are there any Sox bars/meetups in your area? How do you connect yourself with the team outside of WST?
- There are no Sox bars in my area that I am aware of, also I don’t really connect outside of WST which is why WST is such a huge part of my Sox fandom.
8. What changes would you like to see the Sox make in the next few years?
- New ownership that actually cares about the fans and listens to their input.
9. If the Sox relocated out of Chicago would you still support them?
- Yes I would.
10. Who is your favorite current player and all time player?
- Current favorite player would be Liam Hendricks, and all time favorite player would be Ken Griffey Jr.
11. What is your favorite thing about the White Sox and its fans?
- I would say that they are a very inclusive group and are a good group of people.
Big thanks to Sean for being our first interview for this series. Stay tuned for more Q&A from other non-Chicago Sox fans across the country!
