MLB Sunday Lowlights

News you do want to miss.

By: Celeste Spaghetti (@SpaghettiC11)

Compared to last week, this week’s lowlights feel like a slow burn (unless, perhaps, you’re a White Sox fan).

White Sox promote Chris Getz, notoriously terrible person, to General Manager in wake of firing Rick Hahn. (via @whitesox)

Honorable Mention: Tuck-N-Roll Tommy

Listen, we all get over-excited sometimes. Nice recovery, though. 8/10.

5. Joey Gallo TOOTBLAN

Babe, what is you doing?

4. Padres Plummet

The Padres had high hopes for this season with acquisition of 4x All-Star Xander Bogaerts to a whopping 11-year, $280M contract, joining an already star-studded roster with Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Juan Soto.

Unfortunately, the Padres are currently in fourth place in the NL West with a 64-73 (.467) record. But perhaps even worse, the Padres are dangerously close to the worst record in one-run games, currently held by the 1935 Boston Braves (7-31, .184).

With 25 games left in the regular season for the Padres, it is technically possible to tie or exceed this record. Will they? Let us know in the comments.

3. Is Everything Acuña Matada at Coors Stadium?

A few fans rushed the field on Monday, August 28, and made physical contact with NL MVP front-runner Ronald Acuña, Jr. Some said this looked like an attack, but others think it was just an expression of admiration.
Either way, Acuña resumed playing unscathed.

2. Guaranteed Censorship

Security at Guaranteed Rate Field, already in the hot seat for its mishandling of a gunshot in the stadium last week, confiscates this fan-made sign criticizing White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf.

Taking one out of the page of John P. Angelos, I see.

1. Wasted Away Again in Busch Stadium

Legendary singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett passed away on September 1, 2023, the same day St. Louis Cardinals hosted Margaritaville night at Busch Stadium. Too soon? Or a great homage to a music icon? Either way, rest in Power, Jimmy.
