Baseball is an International Sport

International talent is not new to Major League Baseball, but with all the buzz around big-name international signings such as Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shota Imanaga this offseason and the 2023 World Baseball Classic, it feels like domestic MLB fans are more and more interested in watching international baseball.

If you’re even a casual fan of MLB, you’ve probably at least heard references to the NPB, or Nippon Professional Baseball, where superstar Shohei Ohtani was playing before being plucked by the Los Angeles Angels.

But did you know there are 10 Associated Members of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), defined as “those who particularly endorse international baseball and softball with their own leagues in partnership with the WBSC.” These 10 leagues are considered major sports in their respective countries.

Information about the 10 leagues including where and when to watch can be found below (click on each icon to link to their homepage). Unfortunately, we here at ASS do not speak Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Italian, or French so once you click the links you are on your own.

In addition to these 10 leagues, the WBSC includes 183 member and eight provisional countries between both baseball and softball. So, no matter where you are in the world, you can always catch a ball game!
