International superstar Shohei Ohtani is known for keeping his personal life private.

Just this past week, Ohtani announced on Instagram that he had gotten married this off-season, and shared no other details about his new wife other than that she is a “normal Japanese woman.”

Luckily, there is one member of the Ohtani family that isn’t so media-shy: Dekopin. We here at ASS sat down with Japan’s favorite dog to check in on his new-found stardom.

Woof woof! My name is Decoy and I am the loyal and lovable pet dog of Shohei Ohtani. I may be small in size, but I have a big heart and a fierce loyalty to my owner. I love nothing more than spending time with Shohei, whether it’s playing fetch in the backyard or cuddling up on the couch for a nap.

I have been by Shohei’s side since he first brought me home as a puppy, and I have watched him grow into the incredible athlete that he is today. I may not understand the game of baseball, but I can sense the excitement and passion that Shohei brings to the field every time he steps up to the plate or takes the mound. I bark and wag my tail with pride whenever he hits a home run or strikes out a batter.

When Shohei is not training or playing in a game, he always makes sure to set aside time to give me the attention and love that I crave. Whether it’s taking me for a walk around the neighborhood or giving me belly rubs, Shohei knows how to make me feel like the luckiest dog in the world. I may be just a pet to some, but to Shohei, I am his loyal companion and best friend. Woof woof!
