Holy Schnikes, Batman: The French Are Expressing Themselves Again!

By Sam Reeves

This past Friday the Summer Olympics, as is tradition, had its opening ceremonies display.

A combination of performance art acts of the home country, the opening ceremonies are often one of the things the world looks forward to the most about the games. The Beijing Olympics in 2008 was one of the most talked about shows in my very faint memory of the Olympics. This year the games are hosted in Paris, France: a city of diverse culture and experiences. Let’s just call it what is was: ART.

Now many Americans will tell you it was weird, creepy, disgusting, and most of all: NOT VERY CHRISTIAN. Ya know what? Good. If it was some religious-abiding ceremony it would be as boring as arguing about the trade deadline. Look, I didn’t see any of the Opening Ceremony because I was busy at work and I also simply forgot about it. But I did see the boats in the river, the light show on the Eiffel Tower, Celine Dion, and many other highlights from that night.

However, one specific part had a certain group of people all up in arms. So let’s talk about the outrage, the memes, and what actually happened.

I don’t even know how to describe what happened; I haven’t seen the full clip, just screen grabs and memes. A person, whom I believe to be male covered in blue paint, sat on a table and was meditating or something I don’t know. Apparently this person wasn’t allowed to do this because it upset some closed-minded folks. These artists were pegged as drag queens mocking “The Last Supper”. Uh, from the looks of it, I don’t see any food. The below photo shows who was outraged and as you can see, they are all the coolest people.

LOLOLOLOL

Look, you can be upset about this and yada yada, but at least get your facts right if you’re gonna be all angry. These artists were not depicting “The Last Supper” using drag queens. This was a scene of Greek Mythology per the director Thomas Jolly representing the Greek God Dionysus.

Clear Definition of What is Being Represented

Many of the pro-Christian and pro-hate politicians and pundits decided that a world showcase, not in their country, had to abide by their views. Oh how we laughed and laughed. It truly doesn’t get any funnier than outrage over something you’re completely incorrect about. It really truly warms my heart.

I Have No Idea What’s Going On, But I’d Like To

This was a clear misunderstanding that was brought onto Fox News, Newsmax, OANN, and probably Ben Shapiro’s spank bank. These are my favorite kind of stupid people: closed-minded idiots who only talk to people with the same closed-minded views as themselves. These are the people that get made fun of, and I am HERE FOR IT. Here are a couple I enjoyed:

Now the blue man and the female “Jesus” were not the only source of the anger. One of artists in the background seemed to have a wardrobe malfunction. Meaning his testicles were dangling out of his shorts. However, upon closer inspection, and confirmed by the broadcast team: it was a tear in the tights. Not a dangling ballsack, which A LOT of right-wing psychos wanted it to be for some reason. They kept sharing this photo of what they thought was a pair of testicles, for everyone to see. While calling it disgusting…the irony is so damn funny.

Arrested Development

Being outraged about things before understanding the truth or context of a situation is how things spiral out of control. Take a minute, breathe, check your facts and then feel free to share your opinion. The Olympic Games are a time to bring the world together and see the top athletes in their sport perform at the highest level. It’s only every four years, so stop trying to ruin everything with your silly anger. I sure hope the 2028 games in LA make fun of the Last Supper and have a bunch of naked people standing around. Hell, I DEMAND IT BE DONE. Thank you for reading and sorry we’ve been gone for so long.
