Let the Raccoon Manage

The Sox can barely field a competent team, what’s the worst that can happen.

The 2024 Chicago White Sox are absolutely abysmal. Nearly record breaking abysmal as I write this article, they’re 1 loss away from setting the record for the most losses in an MLB season.

We all love seeing history be made, even if it doesn’t spell good for your team. Folks lucky enough to see a no hitter for example aren’t going to focus on their teams loss, they focus on an outcome that has a less than 1% chance of occurring in 29 of the 30 MLB stadiums.

The White Sox couldn’t even provide that glimmer of fun to their fans, they decided to big deep down and find that hustle in games 157-159 of a season where they’ve been mathematically eliminated since August. One could ask where that was all season, but I think we all can formulate an idea of what it’s like to play for Jerry Reinsdorf.

It’s these lowly seasons that certain fans begin to salivate over how they blindly show allegiance. “How could you possibly be interested in seeing this team the 121st game” ask several of these masochists diehards, as if the pissing contest offers a grand prize after 162 games.

Soon people will begin the talks of how the tides can turn for 2025. It’s already heading towards the shitter, as Chris Getz was quoted stating the team won’t focus on free agent signings. While I support the logic of building from within, this concept would actually require the Sox to call up notable prospects. Showing any signs of life towards advancement will only begin once Jerry advances to the grave.

Until then we will continue to see a revolving door of managers that are merely the scapegoat for Jerry’s inability to field a team worth giving much of a shit about. It’s also then that fans, usually the same ones questioning how you fan, will question why the new clubhouse guy isn’t yielding success. Pay no mind to the fact that roadkill off 90 has more life in it than the majority of the Sox rosters put out in the past decade or so.

At this point, let the raccoon manage, how much worse could it get?
